In the first Taliban news conference after the group regained control of the Afghan capital, Kabul, their spokesperson sought to reassure women, saying they are going to have the same rights. But Afghan women know the Taliban’s history all too well, said Lina AbiRafeh, executive director of the The Arab Institute for Women (AiW) at the Lebanese American University.
