X has suspended searches for Taylor Swift due to explicit, fake images of the singer circulating on the platform. Typing "Taylor Swift" into X's search bar results in a message that reads: "Something went wrong. Please try reloading." "This is a temporary measure that we are taking with great caution as we are prioritizing security in this matter," said Joe Benarroch, head of business operations at X. The AI-generated images have been heavily criticized by Swifties, SAG-AFTRA and several politicians. At a recent press conference, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre described the images as "alarming". She also called on Congress to enact protective legislation against this type of imagery.
