Mannheim: On Thursday morning shortly before 9 a.m., an Audi A5 Cabrio caught fire on the A6 near Mannheim and burned out completely. The driver was traveling towards Frankfurt when he noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment just before the Viernheim motorway junction. He immediately stopped the vehicle on the hard shoulder and moved to safety. Shortly afterwards, the car was engulfed in flames. The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire quickly, but the vehicle was completely destroyed. The driver was unharmed. Two lanes had to be closed, leading to traffic disruptions between the Mannheim motorway junction and the Viernheim junction.
