Sales increase: Puma is third largest sporting goods manufacturer
Behind PUMA, the world's third largest sporting goods manufacturer, lies the most successful year in its corporate history. Puma increased its sales by 19 percent to around 8.5 billion euros. However, the previous Puma CEO Bjørn Gulden, who surprisingly moved to competitor Adidas at the end of last year, was still responsible for this. The new Puma CEO Arne Freundt wants to distance himself from his foster father Gulden. Freundt sees the current weakness of his opponent as a great opportunity. With market leadership in India, a strong focus on women, and a multi-year cooperation with Rihanna, Puma can already set itself apart from Adidas in these areas.
