In recent years, the term TERF has become more present in the public eye, although it has been around since the 1970s. Part of the women's movement at the time was the so-called "radical feminism", which originated from the left-wing scene. Nowadays, many activists who hold TERF views tend to move in populist circles that are often associated with the conservative or right-wing spectrum.
