Summer hotter than ever: EU climate service confirms global heat records

According to the European Earth Observation System Copernicus, the summer of 2023 was the hottest since records began in 1940, with the global average temperature for June to August rising by 0.66 degrees. The UN warned of catastrophic consequences of the trend if governments do not take swift action to reduce greenhouse gases.
