40 degrees too warm: Heat record in Antarctica

According to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), there is currently "exceptional and unprecedented heat" in eastern Antarctica. On March 18, "only" minus 12.2 degrees were measured at the Concordia research station. That was 40 degrees warmer than usual on average at this time of year and 20 degrees warmer than the previous record in March, the WMO reported.
