In his government statement on the Ukraine war, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) stressed that there could be "no peace deal over the heads of the Ukrainians." Moreover, he does not currently see that Russia's President Vladimir Putin would be ready for peace negotiations. "Rather, Putin is relying on threatening gestures," Scholz said in the Bundestag.
