Court warns that Prince Harry's life is at risk due to security measures

The Court of Appeal has been warned that Prince Harry's life is 'at stake' due to his current security measures in the United Kingdom. The Duke of Sussex is currently challenging the dismissal of his lawsuit against the Home Office in the High Court. The Royal Executive Committee for the Protection of Nobles and Public Figures (RAVEC) has decided that the Prince should receive a different level of protection when in the UK. The Prince, currently residing in the USA, arrived at the Royal Courts of Justice in central London with his lawyer Shaheed Fatima KC. 'One must not forget the human dimension in this case. Behind me sits a person whose security and life are at stake. Behind me sits a person who is told that they will receive a special, tailored procedure, even though they have known and experienced a procedure that is plainly inferior in every respect,' Fatima told the court. The two-day hearing is taking place after a High Court judge dismissed the Duke's lawsuit against the Home Office over security measures for him and his family during his stay in the UK. Fatima expressed that the Prince 'should be subject to the same procedure as any other person considered for security protection by RAVEC,' unless there is a compelling reason against it. In 2020, the 40-year-old challenged RAVEC over a decision from 2020 that he should no longer be granted the 'same level' of security during visits to his home country. The Home Office defended the appeal and provided the court with a figurative explanation for its decision, stating that the challenge 'represents a continued failure to see the forest for the trees.' Judge Geoffrey Vos of the Court of Appeal stated that the decision is expected to be delivered in writing after Easter, as the court will take time to consider its judgments.
