Kirchenthumbach On 18.04.2025, around 4:45 p.m., a serious traffic accident involving three vehicles occurred on Bundesstraße 470 near Kirchenthumbach. Due to the collision, three of the four individuals involved in the accident were trapped in their vehicles and suffered severe injuries, as reported by the police. They had to be cut out by the emergency services. For further examination, they were taken to nearby hospitals by helicopter or ambulance. All three vehicles suffered a total economic loss amounting to approximately €80,000. Since the exact sequence of events at the scene could not be clarified, an expert was ordered to the accident site after consultation with the public prosecutor's office. Further investigations are being conducted by the Eschenbach i.d.OPf. police station. In addition to the fire departments from Kirchenthumbach, Eschenbach, Neuzirkendorf, and Auerbach, there were also five ambulances, two helicopters, and four doctors on site. The B470 was fully closed in both directions in the area of the accident site.

The ID. LIFE is based on a smaller variant of Volkswagen’s modular electric drive matrix (MEB) that has been developed specifically for the small car segment. It is the first all-electric Volkswagen on the MEB platform to transmit its drive power to the road via the front wheels. Front-wheel drive opens up additional potential for highly efficient use of interior space in a compact surface area. The front-mounted electric motor in the ID. LIFE generates a maximum output of 172 kW (234 PS), accelerating the compact five-door model from a standstill to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. In the underbody of the ID. LIFE there is space for a high-voltage battery whose energy content of 57 kWh enables a range of approximately 400 kilometres according to the WLTP. Thanks to modern charging technology, the range of the ID. LIFE can be increased by up to 163 kilometres within ten minutes when stopping at a DC charging station en route.

The EQS is also the first model to be based on the modular architecture for luxury and executive-class electric vehicles. Fusing technology, design, functionality and connectivity, the EQS delights both drivers and passengers. The first models to come onto the market are the EQS 450+ rated at 245 kW (NEDC combined electrical consumption: 18.9-16.2 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions: 0 g/km) plus the EQS 580 4MATIC rated at 385 kW (NEDC combined electrical consumption: 19.6-17.6 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions: 0 g/km). Fuel consumption acc. to WLTP: EQS 450+ combined electrical consumption 19.8-15.8 kWh/100 km, CO2 emissions 0 g/km; EQS 580 4MATIC combined electrical consumption 21.4-18.3 kWh/100 km, CO2 emissions 0 g/km. "
