According to a study conducted by the language learning platform Babbel, the French accent is no longer considered the most attractive in the world. Babbel surveyed 6,000 people from European countries such as the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy and Germany, as well as the USA. The result: the Italian accent was voted the "sexiest" and "most romantic" accent in the world. Babbel teacher Noël Wolf explained: "There are certain characteristics of Italian that can contribute to its appeal. "The rise and fall of pitch in spoken Italian can create a musical quality... Certain phonetic features, such as the rolling of 'r' sounds, can be distinctive in Italian, which many find charming or attractive," Wolf said. In 2017, the learning platform conducted the same study, in which the French accent was considered the most attractive in the world. Participants in the study also voted that the British accent was the most polite.
