Collective bargaining agreement in the steel industry: 6.5 percent more money for metalworkers

After difficult negotiations and warning strikes, IG Metall and the employers have agreed on a new collective agreement for most of the steel industry. On August 1st wages and salaries of employees are to rise by 6.5 percent. The collective agreement runs for 18 months and will apply from June. For the first two months there is a one-off payment totaling 500 euros. The agreement applies to around 68,000 employees in the federal states of Lower Saxony, Bremen and North Rhine-Westphalia
