Eight gold medals in nine disciplines, a glittering German World Championships festival in Oberhof: at the end, national coach Norbert Loch raves about a "great team performance" and doffs his cap. "The athletes are having a little party today, but I'm going to get in the car, drive home and come down for two days," the 60-year-old told the SID. Germany only fails to win one gold medal: In the men's single-seater, Jonas Müller takes gold for Austria, a small satisfaction for its new national coach Georg Hackl, who had switched from the German Bobsleigh and Luge Federation to its neighbor before the season.
