This move could tighten global supply and strengthen Beijing's control over exports. Europe would be less affected initially as the restrictions are mainly aimed at the US. Critical minerals like samarium, gadolinium, and terbium are affected. Rare earths are crucial for high-tech products such as semiconductors and batteries.
