Mortar thuds heard in Poonch as India, Pakistan exchange fire along line of control
Mortar thuds can be heard as India and Pakistan exchange fire on the Line of Control in Poonch, in India-administered Kashmir. The nuclear-armed rivals have exchanged small arms fire across the heavily militarised Line of Control that divides Kashmir between them every night since April 24, but India fired missiles at Pakistani territory early on May 7 in a major escalation of tensions between the nuclear-armed rivals, as Islamabad vowed retaliation.
