Emmanuel Macron announced that France could recognize the Palestinian State in June at a conference in New York, which it will co-chair with Saudi Arabia. This conference could also lead to Israel being recognized by several countries. Although Palestine is recognized by more than 100 states, France has not taken this step yet. Macron emphasized that he wants to participate in a collective dynamic that promotes the mutual recognition of Palestine and Israel. He emphasized Israel's right to exist in security and the importance of acting against those who deny this right, such as Iran. In November 2023, he had already stated that France would support Palestinian aspirations while protecting Israel. Macron, who had returned from a trip to Egypt, addressed the humanitarian situation in Gaza, which he described as "untenable." The President made it clear that resuming humanitarian aid in Gaza is his "top priority" as the situation is more serious than ever.
