The Animal Park Irgenöd near Ortenburg

1Kattas, pelicans, Bactrian camels, llamas, meerkats, zebras, and many more: Around 400 animals from 80 species from six continents live in the Tierpark Irgenöd near Ortenburg. Founded in 1975 by Erich Schobesberger as a pure bird park, his son took over the park in 2009 and expanded it over the years to a zoo with many mammals. Criticism from animal rights activists about zoo keeping is also known here. Nevertheless, last year the animal park, together with the associated Wildpark Schloss Ortenburg, counted 130,000 visitors.
