The 2024 Oscars was a triumphant celebration of a wonderful year in cinema, with many new records set. Billie Eilish became the youngest person ever to win two Oscars at the age of 22, beating previous winner Luise Rainer, who was 26. Her second Oscar win was also the fastest repeat win for a songwriter in the Best Original Song category since Tim Rice in the 1990s. Ludwig Göransson won the award for best film score for "Oppenheimer", five years after winning for "Black Panther". He is only one of five winners to have achieved this. Da'Vine Joy Randolph won the award for Best Supporting Actress for "The Holdovers", making her the tenth black actress to win in this category. Wes Anderson won his very first Oscar for his short film "The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar", but was unfortunately not present at the ceremony.
