MTV has canceled its Europe Music Awards, which were to be held in Paris on Nov. 5, due to the conflict between Israel and Gaza. The TV channel issued a statement saying that now is not the time for a party and the event was canceled "out of an abundance of caution." "As we watch the devastating events in Israel and Gaza, this does not feel like a moment for a global celebration," it said. In light of the thousands of dead, this is a moment for mourning," MTV said in a statement. Although the broadcaster did not mention any security threats, it added that the event was worrisome for everyone in attendance. The statement also confirmed that the winners will still receive their prizes. Earlier this month, France declared a high alert after a suspected Islamic State terrorist killed a teacher.
