Geri Horner 'more confident' than in Spice Girls' heyday

Queens and kings still arouse lively interest today. Where they appear, the masses flock together. Not a week goes by in which their latest scandals and family events are not to be read in any magazines. Even if these crowned heads have little to say on the political stage and one gets along quite well without them in everyday life, they are still the focus of interest. Somehow it is a strange fascination that emanates from the term "king". A few years ago, the East German pop group "Karat" wrote a song entitled "König der Welt" (King of the World). In this song a different image of the king is written. There it says: "Roll out of the carpet, that the heart goes on velvet. Silence and candles are placed along the way. King of the world, is the heart that loves. And every heartbeat is a knightly accolade, if it is for the other. I find it astonishing that such a song could come into being in a state that has actually decisively renounced kingship and such reactionary structures! Apparently there is a strong need in us humans to preserve this image of royalty.
