St. Leon-Rot: On Friday morning there was a serious traffic accident on the A5 between the Walldorf interchange and the Kronau exit in which a total of seven vehicles were involved. At around 9:30 a.m., the driver of a Hyundai had to brake in the middle of the three lanes in the direction of Karlsruhe, which the driver of a Toyota behind him noticed too late and subsequently hit. The Ford driver behind him managed to brake in time to prevent an accident with the vehicles in front of him that had already collided. However, the following traffic did not manage to do so in time, which is why four more vehicles, including two mobile homes, collided with each other. Due to the force of the collision, the Ford was again pushed onto the vehicles in front of it. A total of four people were slightly injured in the accident. Five of the seven vehicles had to be towed away. The damage to property amounts to more than 100,000 euros. The center and right lanes had to be closed during the rescue work, as well as the subsequent accident investigation and recovery and cleaning work. Traffic was diverted past the accident site. At 1:30 p.m., the section of road could be reopened.
