Dick Van Dyke recently revealed that his neighbors 'rescued' him during the evacuation of his home amid the Franklin Fire raging in Malibu. The 'Mary Poppins' star shared his experience during the fire evacuation on the 'Today' show: 'It came from the hills, you could see it.' The 99-year-old actor continued: 'And oh my God. We got out of here. I was trying to crawl to the car. I was completely exhausted. I couldn't get up anymore.' Van Dyke said: 'Three neighbors came and carried me out and came back and put out a small fire in the guest house and saved me.' The 98-year-old 'Mary Poppins' star previously shared on Facebook that he and his wife Arlene evacuated their estate along with their animals. Also, 78-year-old pop singer Cher evacuated Malibu with her pets and checked into a hotel, as her spokesperson told the New York Times. The Franklin Fire has burned nearly 2,800 hectares of land since it broke out in the beach neighborhoods of Los Angeles. It is not the first time wildfires have erupted in Malibu. The Woosley Fire in 2018 burned down the homes of Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke, Gerard Butler, and Neil Young.
