Galatasaray has accused Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho of 'physically attacking' their manager Okan Buruk after the 2-1 quarter-final victory in the Turkish Cup. The incident occurred after the final whistle when Mourinho is said to have pinched Buruk's nose from behind, causing him to fall to the ground and hold his face. 'Our manager Okan and Mourinho congratulated the referees. After that, while Okan continued, Mourinho first verbally and then physically attacked him. Where else in the world can he do such a thing? What does he think of Turkey? I believe that Fenerbahce's management will impose the necessary sanctions before the association does,' said Metin Ozturk, vice president of Galatasaray. Buruk downplayed the incident after the game by saying 'there was nothing between me and Mourinho' and that he 'would not exaggerate this issue.' However, the 51-year-old said it was not an 'elegant move' by Mourinho and that 'we expect managers to behave more appropriately in such situations.' Tensions arose throughout the game as Mert Yandas of Fenerbahce and Galatasaray players Kerem Demirbay and Baris Yilmaz received red cards for their involvement in a scuffle in stoppage time. The incident occurred after Galatasaray initiated disciplinary proceedings against Mourinho because the Portuguese is said to have made 'racist remarks' after the 0-0 draw in February. Mourinho said the opposing bench was 'jumping around like monkeys' during the game. The 62-year-old was handed a four-game ban and a fine of €41,726 for other disciplinary incidents after the match. The former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss responded to the accusations by suing Galatasaray for violating his 'personal rights.'
