Source: FLYING MEDIA (Glomex)

Today we celebrate the birthday of the German Beer Purity Law, and thus beer in general. On April 23, 1516, the "Purity Law" for German beer was enacted, and since then, every year on this day, the World Day of German Beer is celebrated. German brewing is cultural heritage, and although the south has the highest density of breweries, beer is popular throughout the country. Per capita consumption is around 92 liters per year. About 25 different beer styles are brewed in Germany. Within these beer styles, there are now over 7500 different varieties. However, the most popular beer style remains Pilsner.
