Less Grain: Harvest 2024 Completed

The grain harvest in Bavaria is now largely completed. The average yield for winter wheat is 7.2 tonnes per hectare, which is 0.2 tonnes less than last year. However, the protein content of the grain is sometimes very low, according to the Bavarian Farmers' Association. This is due to the weather conditions and the fertilization regulation. Nevertheless, there is enough grain of good quality to ensure domestic supply, as stated by the Bavarian Millers' Association. Wheat is by far the most important grain in Bavaria and is cultivated on a total of around 450,000 hectares.
