Kitchen Items You Should Replace More Often

Source: VIDEOELEPHANT (Glomex)

There are certain kitchen items that we believe have no expiration date or do not need to be replaced; however, this list may surprise you. Spices can stay in the pantry for a long time, but Colin Smith, owner of Roundabout Catering, has found that most spices last two years. Plastic food containers are extremely useful, especially when packing lunch for work; however, if stains appear, they need to be replaced. If you put cutting boards in the dishwasher, it's probably time to replace them as the wood can warp if not hand washed. It goes without saying that small appliances like coffee makers or blenders that no longer function properly need to be disposed of. Fryer baskets need to be replaced more regularly than you might think, as the wire of the device can loosen and become a food safety risk during cooking. And finally, you should replace your rubber spatulas every six months as they wear out significantly and can even become cracked.
