The Porsche Macan - 100 kWh Battery and Highly Efficient Power Electronics

Source: AUTOMOTOTV (Glomex)

Even the new entry-level Macan into Porsche's full-electric SUV world draws its energy from a high-voltage battery with a 100 kWh gross energy content. The propulsion is provided exclusively by the rear axle motor known from the Macan 4, with a diameter of 210 millimeters, an active length of 200 millimeters, and a power of 250 kW (340 hp). The electric machine has a 480-ampere pulse inverter (PWR) that uses the highly efficient silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductor material to reduce switching losses in the PWR significantly and enable higher switching frequencies. In conjunction with Launch Control, the Macan reaches up to 265 kW (360 hp) of overboost power, with a maximum torque of 563 Nm. It reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in 5.7 seconds, with a top speed of 220 km/h. By omitting all-wheel drive, the Macan is 110 kilograms lighter than the Macan 4 and requires less power. This results in a combined WLTP range of up to 641 kilometers.
